Mode of action
It is an allylamine derivative, acts by inhibiting squalene monooxygenase, thus blocking the biosynthesis of ergosterol, which is an essential component of fungal cell membranes. This inhibition also results in an accumulation of squalene, which is a substrate to 2, 3- oxydo squalene by squalene monooxygenase. The resultant high concentration of squalene and decreased amount of ergosterol are both to contribute antifungal activity.

Dose
Dermatophytosis
Adult: 250mg once a day for 2-4 weeks
Child: 10-20kg: 62.5mg once daily for 2 weeks, 20-40kg; 120mg for 2 weeks
