Chloramphenicol: It is broad spectrum antibiotics, acts by inhibiting the bacterial protein synthesis. It binds to 50s ribosome subunit- interfere with peptide bond formation and transfer of peptide chain from ‘p’ site.
To treat bacterial conjunctivitis caused by chloramphenicol susceptible organisms including: Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus haemolyticus, Morax-axenfeld, Klebsiella/Enterobacter species and others.
Adult: Instill 1 drop every 2 hrs.
