Mode of action
Itraconazole 100mg Capsule
- A triazole antifungal drug
- Has a broader spectrum of activity than fluconazole
- Inhibits cytochrome P-450-dependent enzymes resulting in impairment of ergosterol synthesis which is required in fungal cell wall synthesis
- Has great affinity for highly keratinized tissues such as skin and nails, as well as for the vaginal wall lining
- First choice of drug for the treatment of Candida Onchomycosis.

Indication
Dermatophytosis, Vulvovaginal candidiasis, oculomycosis, Aspergillosis, Cryptococcosis, Candidiasis

Dose
- Blastomycosis/histoplasmosis: 200 mg once daily, length of therapy varies from 1 day to >6 months depending on the condition and mycological response.
- Aspergillosis: 200-400 mg/day.
- Onychomycosis: 200 mg once daily for 12 consecutive weeks.
- Life-threatening infections: Loading dose: 200 mg 3 times/day (600 mg/day) should be given for the first 3 days of therapy.
- Oropharyngeal and esophageal candidiasis: Oral solution: 100-200 mg once daily.
