Mode of action
It is a dihydropyridine calcium antagonist (calcium ion antagonist or slow-channel blocker) that inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, results in smooth muscle relaxation.

Headache, peripheral oedema, flushing, hypotension, bradycardia, dizziness

Precaution
CHF, elderly, children, pregnancy, lactation and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

Dose
Hypertension, Prinzmetal’s Angina, Stable angina
Adult: 5mg once daily increased to 10mg once daily if necessary. Elderly: initial dose 2.5 once daily
