Mode of action
It is the first generation Fluoroquinolones and bacteriocidal in nature. It acts by inhibiting the enzyme bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, prevents the excessive supercoiling of DNA during the replication or transcription. Finally, inhibit their function and thereby inhibiting the bacterial cell division.

Dose
Bacterial conjunctivitis
Adult: 1-2 drops in the affected eye instilled every 2-4 hours for first 2 days then, 4 times daily for the next 5 days of treatment
Child: >1 year: 1-2 drops in the affected eye instilled every 2-4 hours for first 2 days then, 4 times daily for the next 5 days of treatmentBacterial corneal ulcer
Adult: Days 1-2: Instilled 1-2 drops into the affected eye every 30 min while awake. Days 3-7: Instilled 1-2 drops hourly while awake. Thereafter 1-2 drops 4 times daily until condition fully resolvedOtic infection
Adult: Apply 10 drops in the affected ear once daily for 7 days
Child: 6 month -13 year: 5 drops in the affected ear once daily for 7 days -
