Chloramphenicol: It is broad spectrum antibiotics, acts by inhibiting the bacterial protein synthesis. It binds to 50s ribosome subunit- interfere with peptide bond formation and transfer of peptide chain from ‘p’ site.
Benzocaine: it is a local anaesthetic, binds to the sodium channel and reversibly stabilizes the neuronal membrane which decreases its permeability to sodium ions. Depolarization of the neuronal membrane is inhibited, thereby blocking the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses.
