It is a β blocker antihypertensive agent. It competes sympathomimetic neurotransmitters such as catecholamines for binding at beta (1)-adrenergic receptors in the heart and vascular smooth muscle, inhibiting sympathetic stimulation. This results in a reduction in heart rate, cardiac output, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and reflex orthostatic hypotension.

Adult: 25-100mg daily as a single dose depending upon the response.
Angina pectoris,
Adult: 50-100mg daily given as a single dose or divided dose. Max dose 200mg daily
