Tropicamide: It is an anticholinergic drug, binds to and blocks the receptors in the muscles of the eye (muscarinic receptor M4). It acts by blocking the responses of the iris sphincter muscle to the iris and ciliary muscles to cholinergic stimulation, producing dilation of the pupil and paralysis of the ciliary muscle.
Pheniramine: it effectively exerts competitive antagonism of histamine for H1-receptors
Increased intraocular pressure, dry mouth, blurred vision, photophobia, tachycardia
Hypersensitivity, glaucoma, elderly, children, pregnancy, hyperthyroidism
Production of mydriasis
Adult: Instill 1-2 drops 1-20mins before examination
Production of cycloplegia
Adult: Instill 1-2 drops repeated after 5 min. An additional drop may be administer after 20- 30mins for prolonged effects
